Description
This Barabaig child is very androgynous in appearance, like many children in Tanzania of this age. Bennett recalls how even he was fooled by the child's appearance whilst painting. Having thought it was a girl whilst making the painting, he later discovered on his video footage that the child is in fact a boy! The red 'shuka' on the boy's head is evidence to those who know the Barabaig tribe that the child is certainly a boy. The artist met this boy in a village near Lake Manyara where many Barabaig people reside.
